NGUVU

NGUVU took over the Trout House Replica for a 4 day residency as part of the Live Rooms programme.

Hailing from the vibrant musical tapestry of Manchester, NGUVU are a genre-blurring ensemble that defies conventional labels. Founded in 2017 by the visionary drummer, composer, and MC, Jamal Lewis-Service, who not only provides the rhythmic backbone but also pens profound lyrics and delivers electrifying rhymes. NGUVU is a force to be reckoned with in the contemporary music scene. Their distinctive sound is characterized by intricate musicality, infectious hooks, and a spirit of improvisation that keeps audiences on their feet and coming back for more.
NGUVU: a Swahili term that means Power, Force and Energy.

Combining Jazz Fusion, Rock, Funk, Soul, and Hip-Hop, NGUVU featured new songs produced in response to the exhibition.
