Slumberman

Slumberman took over the Trout House Replica for a twenty-minute-sonic-seance summoning the spirit of Captain Beefheart.

For the Slumberman performance, poet and artist Nick Gonzo teamed up with musicians Perfect Writing to try and complete the impossible and summon forth the spirit of Captain Beefhearts album Trout Mask Replica. 

In a supernatural combination of music, poetry, video and with humour, they performed a séance, not for the musicians, but for the art itself, reaching into the netherworld and pulling out the cultural impact of the music, to summon the footprint the seminal album has left on culture.

This was a séance, not for a person, and not for a moment in time, but for the ghost of an album. The ghost of a house. The ghost of an experiment and a cultural wave that started within the walls of a room.
