Genre-defying a.P.A.t.T. took over the Trout House for a two-day residency.

They are a music art collective from Liverpool, who are renowned for their genre-defying music releases and multimedia work. It has been said that they cram more ideas into a three-minute piece of music than most bands manage in their entire careers.

The collective began with the completion of a C90 cassette in 1998 and the way that music was collected, has influenced their ‘genre-less’ approach and informed their somewhat anti-hierarchical shifting line-up.
They have released over 10 full-length albums, numerous singles, music videos and short films and have undertaken several major European tours supporting legends such as Sun-Ra, Secret Chiefs, Sax Ruins, Daniel Johnston.

Music has been released though Pickled Egg, !aNGRr! Cargo and Upset the Rhythm and they have received critical acclaim in The Wire (shortlisted for “Best Avant-Rock”), Pitchfork and The Quietus. The band's most recent album ‘We’ was released in 2023.

A mixed-tape cassette produced by a.P.A.t.T.,  ‘Peregrination 2016 Tour Film Soundtrack 2016’ (32.29mins, 2021) was also included in the Vanda Chan Archive in the gallery.
